Welcoming Down Time

Most of us are always in the go-go-go mindset. With technology, social media, work, and the feeling of being constantly connected we are always "busy" and on the move. This is a little bit of a different topic for me because I usually write about efficiency and I read books on optimization and how to get more things done. However, they are only helpful to a point, and all of us will get burnt out and stressed if we don't take the time to properly rest and recover. How you do this is totally up to you, but taking the time to recover from our overstimulated lives is essential to recharge. It allows you to be able to achieve what you want to, in your work or your personal life. Even though sometimes we think we can go forever, eventually it will catch up to us. I would encourage everyone to take care of all aspects of your health and not just what you can get done at work. Are you sleeping enough, eating good quality foods, getting in intentional time with friends and family, exercising? Neglecting these basics of health will only hurt you in the long run. Maybe you could evaluate your unique situation today and just pick one thing you could do better to give your body the rest that it needs to function.
