The definition of patience is to accept or tolerate delay, trouble, or suffering without getting upset or angry. It's very common to tell little kids that they have to be patience but I think this has a very useful application for all of us. Although we might not start crying when things don't go our way, it can still upset us and lead to us trying to force things to happen our way or make us upset and put us in a bad mood. External circumstances have a potent effect on us, but it is important to remember that we can control how we feel even in difficult situations. we can choose to stay calm and not lose our cool. When we start to let external things affect us to a point where we can't manage our own emotions it is a slippery slope. This is a tough thing to do but I feel like it is a good thing to think about. Maybe next time you start to get upset when things don't go your way just take a deep breath and think will this matter in five minutes? five weeks? or five years? Even if it is something that urgently needs to be taken care of, getting upset will not help the situation. Be patient even in the midst of hard times and always strive to be kind and not let your emotions dictate your response.
