Oftentimes, writing things out can be a great way to express our feeling and ideas on different topics. Sometimes this is easier than talking about things with other people. I am starting this blog series so I can learn more about myself, while at the same time learning from others. Reading and listening to others’ ideas is a great way to build knowledge on different subjects. However, when we are constantly consuming content at a rapid pace we oftentimes forget to reflect on the way it made us feel. Say for example you read an amazing book or listening to a fantastic podcast, even if it was spectacular you are going to forget most of the ideas and move right on to the next one. This is a perfectly normal thing to do, but if you look back you will realize that all of those amazing books you read a year ago have no impact on your daily life. This is the challenge we all have when it comes to learning new things, inevitable we will forget it. This is oftentimes shown by the forgetting curve hypothesis by Hermann Ebbinghaus, if we simply consume content and move on we will forget most of it in a short period of time.

So what is the use of learning all of this stuff if you are just going to forget it? Learning new things is a great thing to always be doing, continually learning can keep your brain young and healthy. At the end of the day though, it is really important to remember the things that you learned. So I am creating this series of blogs in order to document things I learn about through books, podcasts, documentaries, or other outlets. My goal is to better utilize the things I learn in my day-to-day life. Rather than, learning about something great but forgetting it within a short period of time. I hope we can all learn together and make an effort to use that information to improve our daily lives.

Cheers!
