Using Your Phone as a Tool and Not Letting It Use You

The phones we have today can do practically anything we want them to do. If you think back to even only ten or fifteen years ago, it was vastly different. The phones we have today are basically mini-computers in our pockets. They are also a direct line of communication with everyone we possibly know or don't know. There are too many ways of communication to count. It is all accessible and with you at every second. It is easy to be consumed with the practically unlimited things to do with our phones today. Even though this is fun it can often distract us from what is truly important. In 2023 an "epidemic of loneliness and isolation" was put in place by the U.S. Surgeon General. Although COVID is largely to blame for this, it is still true that many people are less connected now than they were before even with this unlimited access to communication through your phone. A message to someone or a like on social media just isn't the same as face-to-face interaction. Being lonely can increase your risk of heart disease, stroke, and even lead to dementia. These are very serious things for something we often take lightly. The phones we have are amazing but they just can't beat human interaction. Even just small conversations with people you meet can make a difference. I know it can be a challenge but our health will thank us if we go out of our way to engage with people and become a little less connected. :)
